About Us

American Patent and Trademark Law Center, is a professional association of independent registered patent attorneys and specializes in patent, trademark, copyright and related business and government contract matters, such as licenses. We have both in house counsel and independent counsel who we may engage for clients in need of expertise in specific patent and trademark areas.

Located in San Diego, California, we have agents and associates throughout the world, including China and Russia, enabling our office to handle all types of domestic and international filing needs for our clients.

Our office is registered to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.

Donn K. Harms is a Registered Patent Attorney also handling business and corporate law matters since 1988, with heavy emphasis on trademarks, copyrights, patents, and licensing matters. Mr. Harms is certified by the San Diego County Bar Association for trademarks, and is a former member of the American Bar Association Committee on Trademark Law for recommendations to the U.S. Congress.
Prior to practicing law, Mr. Harms owned and operated a small business with 50 employees for over 15 years. He has a vast amount of practical experience in small business operation.

Mr. Harms received his undergraduate degree from Western State University and Juris Doctor degree from Thomas Jefferson University and School of Law. He has a general engineering degree with an emphasis on mechanical and software engineering. He is admitted to the California State Bar, the United States Patent Bar, the US Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
